Hot Spots

From June 27-30, 2019, the Gastein Valley will get the adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Championships fever. Then, not only athletes, coaches and entourage will gather in SalzburgerLand. Also visitors who do not want to miss the trail running extravaganza will enjoy the Gastein hospitality. As a visitor of the adidas INFINITE TRAILS, you can enjoy the beautiful mountainscape, get a taste of regional delicacies and cheer for the athletes who will cover 126,7km and more than 7.800vm in teams of three on Saturday.

For those among us who trust our legs less than the trail runners, there are reduced combi tickets for the cablecars and lifts (Graukogelbahn, Stubnerkogelbahn, for 15,50€ per day ticket) on offer. Additionally, all visitors of the adidas INFINITE TRAILS 2019 get reduced bus fares (with the GasteinCard for 1,50€ per ride).

27 June 2019 – Prologue/15K RUN

When the participants of the adidas INFINITE TRAILS Prologue/15K RUN will start in Bad Hofgastein to fight for their starting position in the pursuit start of the adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Championships on Thursday, 27 June, 2019, you will have the chance to experience this spectacle live from the 4*s hotel DAS.GOLDBERG. At this hotspot with a beautiful view into the Gastein valley, you can relax at their “fire bar” and await the arrival of the runners who will pass the hotel terrace not only once but twice on their way of the challenging circuit trail via the Schlossalm back to the Alpen Arena.

29 June 2019 – Team Relay Race

Whether you are rather a night owl or an early bird – being up early on Saturday, June 29, will definitely be worth it, when the Alpen Arena in Bad Hofgastein will turn into the adidas INFINITE TRAILS arena – video walls, animated LED-banners and light installations included. Between 4am and 5am, the relay runners of Loop 1 will be sent off in a pursuit start. Starting intervals will be decided in the prologue on Thursday. For spectators and fans this will be the ideal opportunity to experience the stars of the trail running circuit up close, to cheer for all the participants and to soak up the atmosphere of the adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Championships. Presenters Sebastian Hempfling and Liam Lonsdale as well as DJ Chainsaw will be there to take care of the necessary energy for cheering and applauding. From 3:30am, Gastein will be inviting all of the spectators in the adidas INFINITE TRAILS arena for coffee, tea and croissants so don´t worry about breakfast. The motto of this day will be: rise and shine! There is always the opportunity to sleep – but this extravaganza is only happening once a year!

From 6:25am onwards, the Alpen Arena will be preparing for the first changing of the fastest team. Until 10am, all the Loop 1 runners have to be back in the finish area for their team mates to stay in the classification. Around 11:30am there will be the second change of the fastest teams. From 3pm, the fastest runners and adidas INFINITE TRAILS world champions will be arriving at the Alpen Arena. But all of the teams deserve to be cheered for – an all-day challenge for the spectators in Bad Hofgastein. After the award ceremony at 9pm the “Celebrate the Champions” Finish line party will be held here and the adidas INFINITE TRAILS World Champions and all the finishers will be celebrated.

Also in Bad Gastein, there are several spectator hotspots to follow the race actively. Between 6:30am and 11am, seasoned sports presenter Philipp Heinze will be informing about the race and will welcome the runners of Loop 2 (60km). The first athletes are expected around 7am. Additionally, all your culinary needs will be taken care of by the Bad Gastein neighbor assistance (Nachbarschaftshilfe), who will offer a very special breakfast experience, directly next to the beautiful Bad Gastein waterfall. Here, also the little guests are being catered to, because they are invited to paint flags for sending the runners of Loop 2 onto their way in front of the congress center.

At the Graukogelhütte (at the top station of Graukogelbahn), the day will begin with a traditional Alpine breakfast with regional delicacies and live music. The lift is operating starting from 6:30am. Sports presenter Holger Schröder will inform about the race and from 7:30am to 3:00pm, DJ Sambucca will tune in the spectators as well as the adidas Runners community for the athletes. To stay up on Graukogel during the day will also pay off because the athletes will pass there a second time, right after half of the longest loop of the adidas INFINITE TRAILS and they will need your support. The lift is operating until 5pm.

At Stubnerkogel the lift is operating throughout the day from 8am to 11pm. Here, you can get a relaxed start of the race day surrounded by the breath-taking panorama of the Gastein Alps. At 10am, sports presenter Andreas Gross and DJ Sven will takeover when the top of the runners´ field will approach. At this point, the runners of Loop 2 already have a marathon behind them and more than 3.200 vertical meters in their feet. So, they will welcome all the support they can get. And for all the small fans who might get bored with all the waiting and cheering, crafting and face painting are offered. This is also the cut-off point for Loop 2 at 10pm, so also at night there will be exciting scenes to witness.

At 2pm, the program of the motivation zone at the town park of Dorfgastein will start. Local sports association Bein.hoat are inviting their guests for a white sausage breakfast, including wheat beer and pretzels which will take care of the energy needed to cheer on the athletes. DJ Nudi will provide the necessary musical support, and presenter Philipp Heinze the infotainment and race info. The first runners of Loop 3 are expected to arrive between 2pm and 2:15pm. Our small guests will be able to choose between a bouncy castle, face painting and a climbing tower.
